TV Mounting in West Town

One of the largest and most varied community areas in the city, taking in everything from converted lofts to vintage two-flats across its many pockets. Whatever corner of West Town you're in, we're not far away.

Same published prices as everywhere else we serve: $100 for TVs up to 55″, $125 for 56″–74″ and $150 for 75″ and up, with mounting hardware included and no trip fee for West Town. Bigger TVs take more care to lift and level, so we price in three simple size steps, published up front. The wall still doesn't change the price, except tile (+$50). On a 75″ or larger TV, lend a hand with the lift at no charge, or we bring a second installer for +$75 per visit. Every install carries our lifetime warranty — if a TV we mounted ever comes loose, sags or goes off level, we come back and fix it free — and we're insured. Optional add-ons like a tilting or full-motion mount, in-wall wire concealment, or soundbar mounting are available if you want them.

Homes in West Town

The older blocks of West Town, especially in Ukrainian Village and East Village, are lined with brick two- and three-flats and small workers' cottages from the late 1800s and early 1900s, and Wicker Park adds large Victorian houses around the park itself. Between them are plenty of newer condo buildings and single-family homes framed in wood with drywall, the easiest walls around for hiding cables. In the older buildings we deal with plaster over lath, old chimneys that interrupt the stud layout, and outside walls where the plaster is often applied right over the brick, which calls for masonry anchors instead of wood screws.

Just Moved to West Town?

Plenty of people moving into West Town land in a newer three-unit condo building, often in a duplex-down unit with bedrooms or a family room on the lower level. That layout usually means a living room TV upstairs, one in the primary bedroom, one in the lower-level family room, and maybe another in a guest room or office. Doing them all at once lets us plan the cable runs for both floors together and finish before the sectional, rugs and wall art arrive, so nothing has to be moved later. Book every room together and the whole unit is done in one trip.

Is Any Of This Going On Tile?

Tile is the one wall that costs extra — $50 per TV. It destroys drill bits, and it's the only surcharge we have. Plaster, brick and metal studs are all normal Chicago walls and stay included.

Frequently Asked

Our new-construction home in West Town has a gas fireplace. Can the TV go above it?
Usually, yes. The two things to check are heat off the fireplace and how high the screen ends up. If a fixed mount would put the TV too high to watch comfortably, a MantelMount pull-down mount lets you bring it down to eye level; we're an authorized dealer. Whether cables can run inside the wall above the insert depends on how the chase was framed, which we check on site.
The only good TV wall in my Ukrainian Village three-flat is the outside brick wall. Is that a problem?
No, and brick costs nothing extra. On walls like this the plaster is often applied directly to the masonry, so we drill through it into solid brick and use anchors rated for your TV and mount. Cables can't be fished through solid brick, so the tidy option is an external raceway ($35) that can be painted to match the wall, running to the nearest outlet.
Do you install TVs in West Town?
Yes — we install and mount TVs throughout West Town and the rest of West Side, usually with same-day or next-day availability.
