Bigger TVs take more care to lift and level, so we price in three simple size steps, published up front. The wall still doesn't change the price, except tile (+$50). On a 75″ or larger TV, lend a hand with the lift at no charge, or we bring a second installer for +$75 per visit. Every install carries our lifetime warranty — if a TV we mounted ever comes loose, sags or goes off level, we come back and fix it free — and we're insured. Homes in North Center

Walk a few blocks of North Center and you'll pass three generations of houses. Frame workers' cottages and brick two-flats from the early 1900s sit next to big new single-family homes built where older houses were torn down. The older ones usually have plaster on wood lath, which hides studs from a stud finder, so we confirm them with a small test hole and drill slowly to keep the plaster from cracking. Is Any Of This Going On Tile?

Tile is the one wall that costs extra — $50 per TV. It destroys drill bits, and it's the only surcharge we have. Plaster, brick and metal studs are all normal Chicago walls and stay included.

Our new house near St. Ben's has a linear gas fireplace with a TV niche above it. Is it safe to put the TV there?
Usually, but we check first. Many fireplace makers list a minimum clearance for a TV above the firebox, and we compare that with how the niche was built. If the niche puts the screen too high to watch comfortably, a MantelMount pull-down mount lets you lower the TV to eye level while you watch. We're an authorized MantelMount dealer.
We just closed on a house in Roscoe Village and the painters start next week. Should the TVs go up before or after?
Either order works. If you want in-wall wiring, having us first is a good idea, since the painter can cover any pencil marks or scuffs around the openings. If the paint is already done, that's fine too; we work carefully and the wall plates cover the cut-outs. Same-day appointments are common, so we can often fit around the painter's schedule.
