TV Mounting in Wilmette

A beautiful lakefront suburb home to the Baha'i House of Worship, one of only a handful of Baha'i temples in the world, and full of grand vintage homes near the lake. We bring the same careful, professional install here as anywhere.

Same published prices as everywhere else we serve: $100 for TVs up to 55″, $125 for 56″–74″ and $150 for 75″ and up, with mounting hardware included and no suburban premium for Wilmette. Bigger TVs take more care to lift and level, so we price in three simple size steps, published up front. The wall still doesn't change the price, except tile (+$50). On a 75″ or larger TV, lend a hand with the lift at no charge, or we bring a second installer for +$75 per visit. Every install carries our lifetime warranty — if a TV we mounted ever comes loose, sags or goes off level, we come back and fix it free — and we're insured. Optional add-ons like a tilting or full-motion mount, in-wall wire concealment, or soundbar mounting are available if you want them.

Homes in Wilmette

Closer to the lake and around the village center, much of Wilmette is pre-war: Tudors, Colonials, Prairie-style and stucco houses from the early 1900s through the 1930s, with plaster and lath walls, wood-burning fireplaces and, in many, radiators. The western part of the village, toward the Edens, leans more toward post-war ranches and split-levels. Old plaster is hard and brittle, so we find the studs carefully, drill slowly to avoid cracking, and lag into the wood rather than trusting plaster anchors with a TV's weight. A radiator on the TV wall just means planning the mount height and the wire path around it.

Just Moved to Wilmette?

An older Wilmette house tends to arrive with a punch list, and TVs are easier to cross off before the rest of it starts. Common spots are over the living room fireplace, the den or sunroom, the primary bedroom, a finished basement, and in some of the bigger houses a third-floor playroom. Plaster patching and paint go faster when all the in-wall runs happen in the same visit, so the painter only fixes walls once. Shelves, mirrors or furniture assembly can be added at $80/hour while we're there. Send the whole list in one booking.

Is Any Of This Going On Tile?

Tile is the one wall that costs extra — $50 per TV. It destroys drill bits, and it's the only surcharge we have. Plaster, brick and metal studs are all normal Chicago walls and stay included.

Frequently Asked

Can you hide the wires in the plaster walls of my 1920s Wilmette house?
Usually. Plaster and lath can be fished, but it takes more care than drywall: clean, small openings, working around old bracing inside the wall, and neat patches. In-wall concealment is +$60 per TV. If the wall has an obstruction we can't get past, an external raceway strip (+$35) is the fallback, and we'll tell you before anything gets cut.
There's a radiator under the window on the wall where we want the TV. Is that a problem?
Not usually. The TV mounts to the studs above, so the real questions are height and heat. We keep the screen out of the warm air rising off the radiator where we can, and route wires so they don't rest against the radiator or its pipes. If that wall doesn't work well, we'll point out a better spot in the room.
Do you install TVs in Wilmette?
