TV Mounting in Evanston

Home to Northwestern University, with everything from student housing and vintage courtyard buildings downtown to grand homes along the lakefront. One of the suburbs we serve most regularly.

Same published prices as everywhere else we serve: $100 for TVs up to 55″, $125 for 56″–74″ and $150 for 75″ and up, with mounting hardware included and no suburban premium for Evanston. Bigger TVs take more care to lift and level, so we price in three simple size steps, published up front. The wall still doesn't change the price, except tile (+$50). On a 75″ or larger TV, lend a hand with the lift at no charge, or we bring a second installer for +$75 per visit. Every install carries our lifetime warranty — if a TV we mounted ever comes loose, sags or goes off level, we come back and fix it free — and we're insured. Optional add-ons like a tilting or full-motion mount, in-wall wire concealment, or soundbar mounting are available if you want them.

Homes in Evanston

Evanston has close to every kind of Chicago-area housing in one town: Victorian and Queen Anne houses and big foursquares in the neighborhoods near the lake, brick bungalows and two-flats in parts of south and west Evanston, vintage walk-up apartments, and concrete high-rise condos downtown along Sherman and Chicago Avenues. Each needs different hardware. Plaster and lath in the older buildings means locating studs carefully. Brick and poured concrete get masonry anchors rated for the TV's weight. Partition walls in newer condos are often metal studs, which call for toggle bolts instead of lag screws. Plaster, brick, concrete and metal studs are all included in the price.

Just Moved to Evanston?

Evanston condo moves often come with a reserved elevator window and a management office that wants a certificate of insurance from every contractor. We provide a COI on request, so ask for it early and send it to the building. Getting the living room, bedroom and den TVs mounted during that same window saves a second round of building paperwork. In a house, the list tends to run longer: front room, over the fireplace, a third-floor room, the basement, a home office. Either way, one visit means one set of patched walls and nothing left to schedule later. Book every TV together.

Is Any Of This Going On Tile?

Tile is the one wall that costs extra — $50 per TV. It destroys drill bits, and it's the only surcharge we have. Plaster, brick and metal studs are all normal Chicago walls and stay included.

Frequently Asked

I rent a vintage apartment near Northwestern. Can you mount a TV without wrecking the plaster?
Yes. We locate the studs before drilling, drill plaster slowly so it doesn't crack, and use only the holes the mount needs, which are small and easy to patch when you move out. Check your lease or ask your landlord first, since some don't allow wall mounting. An external raceway strip (+$35) tidies the wires without cutting into the wall.
My downtown Evanston condo has concrete walls. Can a TV be mounted on them?
Yes. Poured concrete holds a mount very well with the right anchors, and concrete is included in the price. It does limit hidden wiring, since wires can't be fished through solid concrete, so we usually use an external raceway (+$35) or route the cables along a nearby drywall wall. Ask your building if they need a COI; we can send one.
Do you install TVs in Evanston?
Yes — we install and mount TVs throughout Evanston and the surrounding area, usually with same-day or next-day availability.
How much does TV mounting cost in Evanston?
