Every brand puts out a "new lineup" every year. Most of it is marketing noise. Here's what's genuinely different in 2026, and what it actually means once that TV is out of the box and needs to get on your wall.
A few things in the 2026 lineups are real upgrades, not just a new model number on last year's panel.
None of this means last year's TV is obsolete. If you're happy with what you have, you're not missing much. But if you've been holding off on an upgrade, this is a genuinely good year to stop waiting.
Tech reviewers cover picture quality and specs. Nobody covers what happens after the box gets delivered — and this year, that part actually matters more than usual.
These TVs are getting bigger and heavier. An 85-inch or 98-inch panel isn't just "the same TV, more inches" — it's a meaningfully heavier load that needs to be on a stud (or a properly rated anchor), with a mount rated for that weight and size, installed level on the first try. A mount that was fine for a 55-inch set isn't automatically fine for a 98-inch one.
New panel types can be more particular to handle. QD-OLED and Micro RGB panels are not cheap to replace if something goes wrong during the mount — a dropped or flexed panel is a different kind of expensive mistake than it was with an older LCD set.
None of that is a reason to be nervous about upgrading. It's a reason to make sure whoever's putting it on the wall knows what they're doing.
